Salt 2015 – HURRY!

Email-footerJuts a quick note to say that if you work in Creative Arts Ministry, Technical Ministry, Worship Ministry, etc., then you need to be at SALT 2015.  This is by far the best conference I have been to and it is sure to be an amazing year this year.  I’m telling you this now, because it is VERY close to being SOLD OUT.

Watch the SALT Manifesto…

#SALT15 is a creative arts conference…BUT it’s more than that…

“It is a movement of people rebuilding the creative walls of the church, not for the sake of marketing, but the sake of engaging people with the contagious Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Check out more about SALT’s vision for artists in the church here.

This year there will be some amazing leaders including some of my favorite folks like Glenn Packiam, Stephen Proctor, and Nick Rivero. I am so honored to serve as a Community Group Leader this year and can’t wait to meet, talk, and invest in the lives of folks serving The Church with their gifts!

SALT is the one time a year I can come and be with other church leaders that are just like me. It’s the one time a year I can come and be immersed in a creative environment that allows God to refresh, renew, and rebuild my spirit.

What are you waiting for…it’s almost sold out so hurry up and register —> HERE!

Live Camera feed…from your phone!

Doing some work this summer for our Kids Camp/VBS at my church, First Wesleyan, Tuscaloosa…I stumbled upon this really cool feature in ProPresenter 6.  Props to the Renewed Vision guys for making incredible software! If you have ProPresenter 6 you can bring in your iPhone camera as a live video feed using the new Syphon feature. There is a slight delay, but for only $6 it is a simple and affordable way to get a live video feed on your screen.

Steps to get your live feed up and running

  1. Download EpocCam HD Wireless Computer Webcamera by Kinoni from the Apple App Store store on your iPhone.
  2. Visit on your Mac and download the companion app called EpocCam Viewer Pro. There are two versions of the Viewer on their site. Be sure to download the free “PRO” version.
  3. Start the EpocCam HD app on your iPhone, then start the EpocCam View Pro app on your mac and once you have the feed coming into your computer, just leave it running in the background.
  4. Open ProPresenter 6 and then open the “Preferences…” in the “File” menu. Under the “Display” section check the “Enable Syphon” checkbox at the bottom.
  5. Under the “Live Video” section in “Preferences” click the “Video Device” drop-down menu and select the “Syphon – EpocCam Viewer Pro” device.
  6. Then just add a live video cue to a slide and you’ll have a wireless feed from your iPhone coming into ProPresenter and out to your screen(s).

By no means is this the best way to show live video on your screens or do IMAG. It is however a cheap and simple solution that might just be the solution you are looking for.

The Apostles Creed

Over the last several weeks, I have been creating simple images that quote the creed and uploading them to our church’s various social networks.  A big part of my job is Social Media management and finding ways to connect and engage with our congregation online.  These images are typical of what we see especially various scripture art images, etc. it’s nothing new, but I like to do it a little differently.  I enjoy doing this in series form. Over Christmas I worked on telling the birth of Christ through these images as we lead up to Christmas Day. Another unique aspect of these images is that they were made completely on my iPhone.  I thought I would post the images here, and list the apps and places I got content to develop these images.  I have a lot of fun making these types of things for the church, and people seem to enjoy the reminder of a verse, encouraging quote, principles/points from previous teachings, or in this case the creed.

In this season of Lent, may we be reminded of the sacrifice that Christ made on our behalf.   May we be reminded of, and encouraged by The Apostles Creed…

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

Maker of heaven and earth,

And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,

Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried;

He descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead;

He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;

From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church,

The communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,

The resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

I love the creed, and I think it’s important for christians to know since it’s an easy to follow foundation of what we believe. The creed outlines the Bible, and the redemption story of Christ. It has been recited and prayed over centuries by christians all over the world in various denominations and churches.  If you’d like to read more about the creed as it relates to what we believe I recommend the book “Common Ground” By Keith Drury.
